The beaches of Skiathos are well known all over the world, amazingly beautiful, and in perfect balance with the amazing wooded hillsides that embrace them.
It is said to have about 60 beaches on the island, of which the most well-known are: Koukounaries, Big and Small Banana, Agia Eleni, Aselinos, Troulos, Agia Paraskevi, Kanapitsa, Vromolimnos, Kechia, Megali Ammos, Achalipi, and Lalaki.
The beach closest to the town of Skiathos is called Megali Ammos. It is relatively narrow as a beach and long, and it combines sand with small pebbles. But to get there, you have to go down a steep hill.
The sea is quite shallow and is the most used beach on the island. There are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas to accommodate many tourists, while being well protected by the north winds.
In Megali Ammos, you can find bars and tavernas up to the shops to do your shopping, and of course, there are plenty of hotels and accommodations.
The most famous and much-discussed beach is Koukounaries, located on the west side of the island, 13 kilometers from the town of Skiathos.
Of course, it is the most organized of all, as there are all kinds of facilities, such as taverns and various types of accommodation. There are campsites, but also several beach bars. You can also do various water sports.
You can visit Koukounaries by bus to the island, stopping at stop 22, but also by car or motorbike rented from the town of Skiathos.
Paltsi or Aghios Konstantinos, is a beautiful small settlement of Pelion and is 53 km from Volos and only 13 km from the capital of the wider area, Argalasti.
Characteristic, very beautiful, and especially known for its golden sand and lush vegetation around, which attracts many visitors every summer to enjoy swimming and relaxation.
Due to its location, Paltsi beach is protected by the north and northeast winds compared to other neighboring beaches of Pelion.
Lalaria Beach is located in the northern part of Skiathos. It is a beach popular for its pebbles and is visited by many tourists in the summer. You can reach there by boat that is moored in the old port of the island. It has been voted the second most beautiful beach on the island after Koukounaries.
It is also known for the rock that has an opening, and many swimmers dive there. Its waters are crystal clear and blue.
After Koukounaries is the most popular beach of Skiathos. It is one of the places where the youngest gather, and there is no permanently loud music from the chock full of beach bars, and obviously not suitable for those who prefer tranquility.
There is a tavern, a bar, and you can even find a water sports school. It is a long sandy beach, and of course, there are sun loungers and umbrellas. All over the world, its waters are always crystal clear, and there is sand inside, not algae.
